On 9th September we officially opened our Outdoor Learning Centre on Bishopstoke Road in Eastleigh.

Development of the site began in October 2020 to turn a disused garden centre into an Outdoor Learning site consisting of forest school sites, wild spaces, and two polytunnels to deliver horticulture programmes.

The site is also home to Allegra’s Classroom which was very generously funded by Allegra’s AmbitionThe addition of the classroom will enable us to offer more curriculum-based programmes and support young people to engage with learning outside of a typical school environment.

The site was declared open by our president, Lord Lieutenant Nigel Atkinson. Guests were then taken on guided tours around the site to learn more about the work we do and even have a go at whittling or toasting marshmallows on the campfire.

Children and young people have already been utilising the site with our teams running programmes to support young carers, young people with long term health conditions, and children in care.

We are so excited to be able to offer the opportunity for young people from urban backgrounds the opportunity to connect with nature locally. The impact the outdoors can have on mental and physical wellbeing is huge, and we can’t wait to support the local community. We are also incredibly grateful to all the funders, supporters, and organisations who made this possible.
